Howdy, I’m Jonathan Trimble.
You might be wondering why I am looking at this chair. The answer is that I am not, I am actually looking to the side to make it appear in the photo as if I am looking at the chair, and that’s because I want YOU to look at the chair. Why?
Well because that’s the common theme of all my work. I want to take the things you think you know already and invite you to see them with new eyes.
I want to invite you to wonder.
My Approach
My approach to problem solving usually involves getting as lost in it as possible. In order to find what others are not finding, you must look where they have not looked. This often involves a lot of unconventional and seemingly arbitrary constraints. They seem arbitrary because they are, but in an intentional sort of way. If you are wondering what the end results tend to look like, feel free to take a look at my portfolio.
Getting Lost…
In order to innovate, you must venture off the known path. This means going where you don’t have a map, which in turn means you are not going to know where you are.
…But on Purpose
If you just get lost, you might never find your way back. In order to make the most of being lost, you must be very intentional about what you do with the discoveries that you make.
